APTEC has made a strategic commitment to higher education driven by the very unique needs of this community.  APTEC’s focus areas on  Identity & Access Management (IAM) and Database Security lend themselves very well to a services solution set for the diverse needs of our higher education clients.  In the EDUCAUSE Top-Ten IT Issues “Security and Identity Management”  has topped the issues list for several years.  The challenge is that while universities have made great progress in putting common services online, they have not been able to know with assurance who is using those resources.  There are multiple communities of identity within higher education including applicants, students, faculty, adjunct, staff, alumni, and affiliates (members that need access to resources but may not be managed by an authoritative HR or student enrollment system).  While this adds complexity to the identity problem, it is a common theme across higher education clients and APTEC consultants’ have extensive experience integrating with these systems. The common authoritative source applications include Banner, Datatel, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Blackbaud and Oracle E-Business HR.   In many cases, combinations of these sources are in play.

APTEC has built connectors for Ellucian Banner, Google Apps, Office 365, Live@Edu and Blackbaud for our Higher Education customers deploying Oracle Identity Manager “OIM.”
